English Translation
Anyone who has watched enough Hollywood blockbusters knows this kind of line: I used to believe in God with all my heart. I revered Him and remained devout. But the moment I needed Him most, He was nowhere to be found. So I had no choice but to rely on myself. Countries like Japan and the Philippines, in truth, find themselves in a similar bind. They have elevated American power into an article of faith — but how far that faith can actually carry them is something only God knows.
